A Cactus Cannot Be So Famous
After the CBS TVs 60 Minutes show introduced it to the world, a small cucumber-like prickly cactus named Hoodia Gordonii became famous overnight and never looked back. The prime reason of fame for this fame was the miraculous ability of this cactus to suppress hunger by tricking the brain to think that the persons stomach was full, so he/she didnt need to eat. Hoodia could therefore be used in order to reduce weight safely. Its efficacy was already well proven, as native tribesmen of Kalahari Desert had put it to good use for centuries. Many products featuring Hoodia appeared and the name became synonymous with weight loss. People, who didnt know of its name, knew of its abilities. One case reported an obese person coming to the store to demand Hoodia Gordonia. When he was told that there was no such thing as Hoodia Gordonia, he asked of the medicine made of a prickly cactus that helped reduce weight. This case proves the fame of Hoodia and is a testament to the star-like fame of a small cactus.
